Ophthalmic Infection

Ocular infections can threaten sight within days; small-volume samples make multiplex molecular testing particularly valuable.

Infectious keratitis, endophthalmitis and other ocular infections can permanently damage vision within days. Specimens (corneal scrapings, vitreous/aqueous taps) are minute, which limits conventional culture yield. Multiplex PCR can test these small samples against the common bacterial, viral and fungal ocular pathogens simultaneously, complementing microscopy and culture.
